My name is Robert, and I am so tired of watching the entire dog training industry blatantly lie to dog owners to make money. It’s nothing more than a system of fraud and extortion – to make you afraid of your dog and for your dog. Then society is telling you to hire a trainer – cause you are not capable of helping your dog on your own. It’s gotten bad out there and it’s not fixable at this point.
I’ve been watching this show for a long time. I watched helplessly over the last 15 plus years as IGP/Schutzhund dog training took over everything dog. They dragged all the ideologies and tools of IGP into the behavior arena where they don’t belong. And here we are… wow.
15 plus years ago – treat training was a last resort, use the treats, train the dog then lose the treats. But here we are 15 plus years on – now it’s always have a treat bag on your side? If treats were training tools – you wouldn’t need the insurance policy. They are not training tools – they are not Positive Reinforcements – they are actually punishments. They are Primary Inducements – bribes. You are trying to use an inducement to bribe your dog to do something for you. When the bribes don’t work on the dogs behavior? Off to balanced training – now there is some good news. Society has normalized abusing the sentient dog – and they pay through the nose to learn it. How do you see this ending? Brainwashing – oh my. I’ll give dog trainers one thing, they make great sales people.
15 plus years ago, prongs and e-collars were a tool of last resort. Use the tool, train the dog, then get rid of the tool. But here we are – 15 years later – these tools are now an insurance policy. Always leave it on – why bother taking it off?
But these trainers dare to call these things “training tools”? Someone is lying – and it’s not me. Can we stop calling them training tools? They are not training tools if they are necessary for life – it means you never trust your dog.
How do I define dog training? Man fears that which he does not understand – if he can’t control and manage it – he destroys it. People are not trying to understand the dogs behaviors anymore, they only try to control the dog. And as a result of all this training nonsense, millions of dogs are dead – killed for bad behaviors by a group of people that can’t even define the word behavior. How can you claim to be an “expert” in something that you cannot define?
Welcome to the fraud called dog training. Either get a proper education or get out of the behavior ring – you don’t belong. But that’s where the real money is – isn’t it? There’s the cash cow – the $100 billion dollar pet care conglomerate – and you’re going to enjoy that blog.
The number one thing I hear from dog owners as a result of all this garbage dog training? “I don’t trust my dog”. Well, hate to break it to you – if you don’t trust your dog, then there is no relationship to be had – and there never was. If you can’t trust your spouse, then there is no relationship – period. It’s toxic, it’s trauma bonding, tends to end up narcissistic. Now look at your dog…
Dog training isn’t concerned about you building a healthy relationship based on mutual trust and respect – they want you in a toxic relationship of reward and punishment. They want you in that transactional relationship and that begins from the time the dog is a puppy.
Most of these dogs have no clue as to what a solid relationship with a human is – all they know is toxic. And we wonder why they have behavioral issues?
