People find it funny that I am not a fan of technology – but i’ve working in IT for over 35 years. Knowledge of how this technology works doesn’t make me want to rush out and buy it. Built my first computer in 1990, and that drew me in. I used a cheap 3G phone for years, it was 10 years old when I bought it. My laptop is 10 years old, still does everything I need.
Yet, I watch what other people in the computer industry have. One friend has $60k in computer gear and accessories in his game room in the basement. It’s not for me. I hardly ever use my phone, not a fan of texting. My laptop does what I need and I control the privacy.
When the information superhighway came online in the mid 1990’s, I made sure to understand how it worked, the vast majority now don’t care how it works – just that it works.
